The General Consul of Panama in Houston, Ambassador, Juan B. Sosa delivered to the Minister of Maritime Affairs and Administrator of the Panama Maritime Administration, a membership badge for the Consulate and the Regional Office of Segumar in Houston, from the prestigious International Association of Drilling Contractors –IADC, with headquarters also in Houston, Texas
Ambassador Sosa and Eng. Ing. Arnulfo Botacio, director of Segumar Houston, received the acknowledgement badge from the president of IADC, Jason McFarland.
Since 1940, the International Association of Drilling Contractors –IADC, has represented exclusively the world industry of gas and oil drilling. The members of the IADC ha most of the terrestrial units on land drillings and open sea drillings, drilling most of the oil wells in the world.
The IADC has an advisor status in the International Maritime Organization and an observer status in the International Seabed Authority. It has its headquarters in Houston, and offices in Washington DC, the Netherlands, Thailand and the United Arab Emirates, as well as sections in the United Kingdom, Venezuela, Brazil, Australia, Southern Central Asia, Southwestern Asia, Western Asia, Western Africa, Middle West and all over the United States of America.
The acknowledgement of the IADC to Panama, grants us the opportunity to participate in the committees for the requirements for offshore seafarers, a specialized section generally addressed in the discussion of the International Maritime Organization.
Segumar Offices in Houston were inaugurated in November, 2017 to handle businesses of the Panamanian maritime industries in Southwestern USA, including those activities related to offshore oil drilling.
