The Maritime Sector acting in solidarity with the country will apply measures to provide relief to the importers.

 

Companies engaged in logistics and transportation can continue to operate under exceptions of Executive Decree 507 of 2020, and support is being provided to importers who cannot mobilize their cargo to their warehouses. In this sense:

 

  • These conditions are valid for full import containers, it does not apply to refrigerated cargo. In case it becomes necessary to store the containers outside the operational area of ​​the port, they will be charged a nominal fee.
  • These measures are temporary and once the effects of the operation restrictions are suspended, these benefits will not be granted any longer.

 

Thus:

 

  1. The port terminals will be granting free storage time of 15 days from 6 and until April 20 (inclusive) 2020. For the granting of this term, companies that are not excepted in decree 507,  must make their request to the Ministry of Commerce and Industries through the following email: betzy.castro@mici.gob.pa. The MICI that will send the list of companies that have this prerogative, and will systematically send it to the terminals in order  to keep it updated.
  2. Shipping companies may grant up to a maximum of 15 days free of equipment retention depending on the case.
    • For those customers who maintain valid contracts with the shipping lines in which they are granted more than 15 days free of retention, the provisions of the corresponding contract will remain in force.
